KANNADASAN

[Thai pirandhaa vali pirakkum] Aasaiye alai pole…..

Movie: Thai pirandhaa vali pirakkum
Poet: kannadasan
Song Sequence:  (1)-(1)-(2)-(1)-(3)-(1)-(4)-(1)
(1)Aasaiye alai pole,
Naamellam athan mele,
Odam pole adiduvome vaal naalile
Desires are like waves,
We are like the boat on those waves , living all our life according to it (desires).
(2)Paruvam ennum kaatrile,
parakkum kaathal therile,
aanum pennum mahizhvar,
sugam peruvar , athisayam kaanpaar,
Naalai ulahin paathaiyai inre,
yaar kaanuvar?
In the wind of “youth”,
The chariot of “love” flies,
man and women feel happy(enjoy) in it,
attain comfort, and see miracles,
but then, who knows the path of tomorrow’s world today?
(3) Vaalkai ellam theernthathen,
vadivam mattum vaalvadhen,
ilamai meendum varumaa,
manam perumaa,
muthumayae sugame,
kaalam pogum pathayai inge,
yaar kaanuvaar,
why does this life finish(end),
why does only the form stay back?
will we get back youth,
will the hearts fill back with youth,
is old age a comfortable experience ( happiness)?
what course time takes, who knows (has seen it)?
(4) Sooraikaatru mothinaal
thoni oattam maevumo,
vaalvil thunbam varavuu
suham selavu, iruppathu kanavu
kaalam vahutha kanakkai inge
yaar kaanuvar,
When a hailstorm strikes,
how can a boat sail calmly (smoothly)?
In this life, sorrows are income,
happiness is expenditure, present is nothing but a dream,
what calculations has time made for us , who knows ( has seen it?)?
