you don’t have the right.
to choose where/how/as what you will be born,
to choose where/how you will die,
you don’t have the right.
if you think about it,
only your life ,
is in your hands,
so focus on winning (in) your life.

(1)parthaa pasumaram paduthuvitta nedumaram,
sethaa veragukkaagumaa nyaana thangame,
theeyilittaa kariyum minjumaa nyaana thangame
theeyilittaa kariyum minjumaa,
what you see as a lush green tree, if felled is an immobile piece of wood,
one you collect them they can be used as fuel, oh knowledgeable people,
when you burn it in fire, it results in charcoal, oh knowledgeable people,
when you burn it in fire, it results in charcoal,
(when one looks at a person’s body , it looks just like the lush green tree, full of life, seemingly important etc.
but when it dies, it is nothing but a piece of flesh,
while a tree can at least give fuel/ charcoal even after its death, our body can yield nothing after death (totally useless),
so stop all your prejudices and a false sense of superiority / importance since we are worth only when we are alive, we should use this time valuably)
(2)kattazhagu meniyaippaar pottum poovumaa,
neeti  kattaile paduththuvittaa kaasukkaagumaa,
[Addressed to women] look at the beautiful body of this women adorned with  bindi and flowers,
however when they age (close to death) and are no longer mobile/ unwell due to age etc  (lie flat), they are not worth any money,
(all the time and effort we spend worrying about external appearances, false pride of youth etc are of no use since finally everyone is going to age (die) and turn worthless someday)
(3)vattamidum kaalaiyaippaar vaattasaattamaa,
(4)kooni valanjivittaa odambu indha aattam podumaa,
[Addressed to men] look at the strong bulls (man in his youth) revolving around women,
however once old age sets in and people can no longer stand straight and get a  hunchback, will they play all the games that they did as youth,
(5) ponnum porulum mootta katti pottu vechchaaru,
(6) ivaru pona varusham mazhaiya nambi vedha vedhachchaaru,
there are people who amass material wealth and gold, and keep it locked, (people who are greedy)
there are people who sow seeds depending on last year’s rainfall, (people who don’t think forward and live in their past )
(7) aettu kanakka maathi maathi ezhudhivechchaaru,
(8) eesan potta kanakku maaravilla poy vizhundhaaru,
there are people who manipulate account books, (detract from their duties)
however in god’s account the calculations don’t change, they fall (people who commit mistakes , may be let away in this world, but in god’s books your mistakes are recorded and there is definite punishment)
(9)aruvadaiyai mudikkum munne vidhikkal aguma,
ada andavane un padaippil ithanai vegama,
before finishing the harvest, how can the seeds be sown,
oh lord! why is this sense of hurry in your creations (humans),
(10)pathu pulla pethapinnum ettu maasama,
(11)indha paavi  magalukku endha naalum garbha veshama.
having borne 10 children, the lady is eager for more children (8 month pregnant),
for this sinned daughter, every day is a pregnancy drama.

(2)vetri kodi kattu malaigalai muttum varai muttu,
latchiyam ettum varai ettu, padaiyedu Padayappa,
hoist the flag of success, keep striking the mighty mountains till you can (they too will budge eventually),
reach out for your goal as much as you can, begin the war, oh Padayappa,
(3)kaithattum olipattu (ulipattu?), nee vidum netrithulipattu,

only a demon kills another life form and enjoys it,
(7)yaarukkum theengindri vazhpavan manidhan,
oorukke vaazndhu uyarndhavan punidhan,
A human is one who means no harm to anyone,
A holy(moral) person is one who lived for the community(people) and moved ahead,
(8)netruvaraikkum manidhan appa,
Indrumudhal nee punidhan appa,
Till yesterday you were a human,
From today you are a holy(moral) man,

SNEHAN[Mounam Pesiyadhe] Aadaadha aattamellaam pottavanga…

Movie: Mounam Pesiyadhe
Poet: Snehan
Singer: Karthik
Music Director: Yuvan shankar raja
Song Sequence: (1)-(2)-(1)-(3)-(1)-(4)-(1)-(2)-(1)
(1)Aadaadha aattamellaam pottavanga,
mannukkulla pona kadhai unakku theriyumaa,
nee kondu vandhadhenna,nee kondu povadhenna,
unmai enna unakku puriyumaa,
those who danced too much (people who to any extent for personal satisfaction) in the past,
are all gone to the soil (dead), do you know the story of their death?
what is it that you came in with when you were born, what is it that you will take away after your death,
do you understand what is the truth?
(2)vaalkai inge yaarukkum sondhamillaiye,
vandhavanum varubavanum nilaipadhillaiye,
neeyum naanum nooru varusham iruppathillai paaru,
no one can claim ownership of “life” here,
those who came and those who will come, are not here to stay forever (every one dies),
you and me are not going to live for 100 years anyways,
(3)nittham kodi sugangal thedi, kangal moodi alaigindrom,
paavangalai melum melum, serthukonde pogindrom,
manidhan ennum vedam pottu, mirigamaaga vaalgindrom,
theerpu ondru iruppadhai marandhu, theemaigalai seigindrom,
kaalam meendum thirumbaathe, paadhai maari pogaadhe,
bhoomi konjam kulunginaale, nindru pogum aattame,
we are always in search of numerous materialistic desires, during which we close our eyes and roam around,
we accumulate sins constantly during the course,
we externally appear human, but we live like animals,
we forget that each of our actions will be judged one day (justice will be done one day, all our ill actions will be punished),we keep doing bad deeds,
the time that passed will never return (you cannot go back in time and correct your mistakes), so dont loose track,
we are such susceptible creatures that even if this earth shakes a bit (earth quake), we die (so why this fake life when alive?)
(4)karuvaraikkul thaanaaga katthukonda siru aattam,
thottilukkul sugamaaga thodarum aattame,
paruvam pookkum nerathil, kaadhal seiya poraattam,
kaadhal vandha pinnaale, bodhai aattame,
perukkaaga oru aattam, kaasukkaaga pala aattam,
ettu kaalil pogumbodhu, ooru podum aattame.
our small dance starts naturally in mothers womb,
when we are in the cradle , the dance continues,
one we attain teenage, we fight for love,
once we fall in love, we are in an inebriated state and dance,
for attaining fame and status , we dance , for getting money , we do multiple dances,
but once you are dead, and carried by 4 people ( 8 legs ) to the graveyard, the world dances for your departure!

(4)ponnum porulum niraindhavar nenjam , poiyil valrndha kaadu,
(5)yennum, yeluthum niraindhavar nenjam iraivan thigalum veedu,
the hearts of people who only have all the riches and all material comforts, is like a forest grown on lies,
the hearts of people who are learned, and can think is where  god resides,
(6)aadai, anigalan, adaambarangal andavan virumbuvudhillai,

(8)isaiyil kalaiyil, kaviyil mazhalai mozhiyil iraivan undu,
(9)ivaidhaan deivam yenbathai arindhaal yerkum unadhu thondu, deivam yerkum unadhu thondu
the dresses, the ornaments, the things which we adorn to flaunt; are not what god likes,
unfocused worship ( by having each of your eyes ( thoughts) focussed on different things) is not considered worship ,
in music, in arts, in a poet’s baby like(simple and elegant) language is where god lives,
if one realizes that these are where god lives ( or is god), then god will accept all your offerings,
(10)nandri niraaindhavar enge, deivam ange
nanmai purindhavar enge, deivam ange
palamai ninaindhavar enge, deivam ange
paasam malandhavar enge, deivam ange
deivam irupadhu inge,
in people who are thankful, there is god,
in people who do good, there is god,
