we were born in the lap of our mother, we grew up in the lap of Tamil,
we blossomed as actors , we became a part of the drama (of life)
(This world is nothing but a drama and we are all actors in it playing our parts)

there is no stage where we have not danced, there is no act that we haven’t donned,
there is no tear that we haven’t shed, there has been no dearth of laughter.

we humans,who are dancing with our legs, are mere puppets with strings,

we falsely believe many people to be our friends, and get cheated by them,
we see thorns as flowers and fail to comprehend (and stand confused),
both toddy(a liquor, associated with intoxication and evil) and milk(associated with good, purity) are similar to look at,
am I toddy or milk, tell me oh god!
